Karen Barnes
Karen studied Art and Design at West Coast College of TAFE, receiving her Certificate of Art and Design in 1996. She attended the Artist’s Summer School at The Mitchell School of Arts, Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, NSW in 2003, 2005 & 2007. She has had the good fortune of studying with some of Australia’s most renown Artists.
She has participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout the State, since 1996 and has won several awards. In 2003 she held her first successful Solo Exhibition. Recently she held her second Solo Exhibition at Bethesda Hospital in April/May 2010.
Karen taught Adult and Children’s art classes with the West Coast College of TAFE’S Lifelong Learning Program. She has also conducted many workshops and art demonstrations for various groups.
Having travelled extensively she is particularly passionate about her homeland, Australia. She loves the beauty and diversity of the land and its amazing wildlife. It is a constant source of inspiration for her.
She enjoys painting in all mediums and her subject matter is extremely varied. Her style is also quite diverse allowing her to paint both figurative and non-figurative works.
